03 NPP Waveney Springs 23.08.2010

Continued from The story so far 21 - 09.05.2010

Monday 23 August 2010 - I received a call from the Diss Express while working at Heaven; I was about to assist Ben and Ray with a wooden crocodile into a van for delivery and had just smashed my little finger while moving a massively heavy anvil. Still, Luke Page wanted an interview about the forth coming Waveney Springs Art Trail and business is business. So, there I was bare chested beneath the August sunshine, bleeding aching finger and surrounded by wheel barrow, wooden off-cuts and shavings, rake, fork, spade, tools and so forth.

I visited Diss the Friday before the weekend, delivering up-date information to all 31 shops. At the Diss Express I found out about a controversy involving our WS member John Vesty - it's a lovely accident. Thank you Cromer Council. This is a good example of the media coverage:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1303808/Cromer-council-removes-22-offensive-nude-paintings-exhibition.html#

We will be displaying the 'offensive' nudes among the shops of Diss, perhaps Ulric Computers or Ashton & Co Estate Agents opposite Merrick Hill Insurance from where my Tom Paine's 'eyes' can peer at the beauty of the human form!

It seems Waveney Springs artist John Vesty has not only become a national talking point of controversy in several leading papers, but international too as the story has apparently hit at least Denmark, Spain and India... while Diss plans to brave 'offensive' paintings in September - wonderful.

John vesty mailed me: "I have Just returned from a walking holiday with my kids in Cumbria; where I did my best to plug Waveney Springs from my mobile via Radio5 live drive-time, crouching 2000ft up on Great Borne in Ennerdale and on Anglia T.V. News which was shot in Carlisle. So much for my attempt at Diss appearing for last ten days! An 'international' talking point? WaveneySprings has now gone global!"

This is the quote he gave to a Danish magazine: "My reaction to the censorship of my paintings began with astonishment but it is now one of gratitude to the council for unwittingly bringing my work to a much wider audience. Nonetheless I still remain surprised at the paucity of mind in one's fellow human beings and sad that their vision is so pre-determined by an unquestioned past. What we 'see' is so often merely a reflection of our own prejudices; in the case of paintings all that is physically there are some small daubs of coloured earth stuck to a flat piece of stretched material, all the rest is an interpretation formed in the brain of the individual onlooker; regrettably most do not know this. This blinkered vision is endemic in all societies and I believe it has always been so historically and is likely to remain the case in the future. Breast-feeding for instance in the west is still frowned upon in public by many people and many institutions, yet what could be a more natural activity? Mankind always fears the unknown or the unfamiliar and although we all have bodies, many put even that into the 'alien' category."

BBC Radio Norfolk also called on Friday and plan to visit the streets of Diss Thursday 02 Sept.

Started reading The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, first published in 1975. I came across a fascinating quote, allegedly by General George Washington to Sir John Sinclair:
"I find that for all purpose, the Indian hemp is in every way superior to the New Zealand variety previously cultivated here."

Wednesday 25 August 2010 - A particularly amusing and bizarre take on the 'nudes' fiasco is a Polish article which the internet translation refers to as 'Polish Atheist site', though it does provide a clear link to Waveney Springs:

Saturday 28 August 2010 - Article from the Telegraph about sea level change theory:

Article in this week's Diss Express promotes the forth coming Waveney Springs Art Trail: Art Trail To Lift Town Traders.
Went to Thetford King's House with Ben and Ben to provide wooden sculpture for a Teddy Bear's Garden Party. Here's Ben sitting on his Mermaids...

Thursday 02 September 2010 - BBC Radio Norfolk's Stephen Bumfrey visited Diss....
John Vesty, Stephen Bumfrey, a nude in the window and WS PR representative:

Stephen Bumfrey, The Vision of Paine and WS PR representative outside Merrick Hill:

Stephen Bumfrey's BBC Radio Norfok show gave us excellent coverage the same afternoon 1-4pm. The Listen Now link was available for 7 days; our activity and the subject of John Vesty's 'nude' paintings frequently mentioned from the start; our specific segment started at about 1.30 mins into the show until 1.49 mins...

September develops into a busy time.

Friday 10 September 2010 - Met Richard Bacon MP along with other representatives of the community for a photo-op to promote the Waveney Springs Art Trail...

I then drove up to Holt to label my Gresham's exhibition, before a return trip to Norwich for an interview with Matthew Gudgin at BBC Radio Norfolk with History teacher Simon Kinder; available for 7 days 0.43 - 0.54 mins:

Exhibition opened 6pm.

This week's Diss Express, out today, mentions the planned visit by Richard Bacon MP, an article of support for Waveney Springs by the Mayor and an editorial column also singing our praises.

Saturday 25 September 2010 - BBC Radio 4 today presented Punt PI: Nazi UFO's. Among the interviewees was Igor Witkowski whom I first came across through Project Camelot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZbW9RZEGsg&feature=player_embedded
As usual, the BBC tended to associate the UFO subject with a 'silly' factor; after all, they have a comedian investigating one of the most profound issues currently known to man.
Yesterday, The Diss Express published Phil Jupitas on their front cover. He had mentioned Diss during an interview on The One Show, Merrick Hill informed me and I suggested to Claire at The One Show she propose to Mr. Jupitas' camp that he arrange a book signing session in Diss. Also, inside the week's Diss Express, Richard Bacon praises The Waveney Springs Art Trail in his column.

Sunday 26 September 2010 - I've e-mailed BBC Today editor Dominic Groves and his team again. They will not take much if any notice, but one tries.

Dear Mr. Groves & the Today team,

a press conference is planned for the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Monday, to offer testimony about the UFO/ET issue. It is relevant to the climate change issue; energy issues; religious issues; indeed, just about everything to do with life on earth. As a member of the British public, I would welcome the BBC reporting on this matter:

Also, worth your attention, Webster Tarpley, an INVESTIGATIVE journalist, one you might invite to your programme:

Finally, an article on the recent Ahmadinejad address to the UN:
http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/09/23/applause-for-ahmadinejad/
I have pasted the English translation below for your convenience. I may not wholly agree with the President's viewpoint, but he does make some interesting points and I would like to think thought-crime has not yet been brought into our common law.

Best wishes,
Ned

I took the translation from here:

It's a wee bit too long to paste as a blog text.

In 1984 I read the book 1984 on a beach in Portugal. It was probably my first introduction to the concept of 'thought-crime'. Here's a chap who has been apparently imprisoned for thought-crime. David Irving brands his critics as "little Nazis who Hitler would be proud of" as he continues to campaign for his version of historical truth:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/poland/8020715/David-Irving-brands-critics-little-Nazis.html
I would probably attract the ire of the ADL just for including this link. I recommend you read Webster Tarpley's 'George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography' to have another viewpoint of war and who finances it:

Interesting video, American Drug War:
